I have been in Dillon, Montana since the fall of 2004 and started MTPerformance Equine Bodywork in 2005 with a Certification in Equine Sports Massage from EquiTouch in Colorado.    Growing up in Vermont I was fortunate to always have been around horses, trail riding, showing, eventing, and even riding racehorses during one winter in South Carolina.   I have a BS in Wildlife Biology from the University of Vermont and started wildland firefighting/hotshotting/helitack with the feds in Utah in 1991 and did that until I had my first of two boys in 2008.   In 2005 I started competing in endurance racing, and in 2013 my mare developed a degenerative condition in her ligaments (DSLD) and could no longer be competitive.  Frustrated by my inability to help her, I began searching for a more all-encompassing and effective form of treatment, and came across the Masterson Method.  I quickly discovered that what they claimed was true...the lighter my touch was, the bigger the releases were.  Her range of motion, movement and her happiness improved dramatically.  I attended a Masterson Method class in Arizona in January 2014 and immediately began the certification process.  After 9 months of intensive practice, lots of horses, writing reports, attending courses and learning about horses again, I became a Masterson Method Certified Practitioner® in the fall of 2014.
This work is amazing to me, and just the other day I was telling a client that I still can't believe this method works SO WELL!  I love the concept of less is more, of backing off when the horse says "too much!!", of looking for the subtle signs that you are over tension, and especially...the deep peace that they feel when that tension is released.  I love the fact that owners see those moments too, and see just one more response that they hadn't seen previously.  I love that people ride the horse afterwards and comment that they are more responsive, lighter, more supple, and are much happier doing their job.  I love helping horses feel better, do better, and as a result make their owners/riders happier with them.

I work at high-profile events such as the National 50/100-mile Endurance Championships, the Tevis Cup 100-Mile race in California, the Arabian Horse Association 50/100-mile Championships, as well as regular organized endurance rides. I help out the local University horses, barrel and rodeo competitors, cutting horse competitors, ranch and roping horses and dressage horses.  I can tailor my work to specific areas of the horse or to the specific sport they are competing in...or if they are youngsters I can help start their training off right if there are any past injuries or events that have created compensation issues.
This work also is amazing on any four-legged animal, prey or predator.  Dogs, goats, sheep, cows and even pigs get a lot out of this work!
